How has the pandemic affected workers in your country? Discuss.

In my country, Japan, a number of jobs have been affected due to COVID-19.

To take an example, transportation demands have been fallen during the state of emergency till last month. Many companies had their employees work remotely in their houses, and on weekends, all people were required to stay home and not to go out. Therefore, the number of trips had decreased significantly during the state, and the sales of the transportation industry, such as railway companies, highway companies, and taxi companies, declined compared with last year.

Another example is night bars, in other words, cabaret-club in Japanese. Night bars are good places for the virus to be spread since it is said that COVID-19 tends to be spread in close distance and with less ventilation environment. A Japanese famous comedian, Ken Shimura, was said to be infected at the night bar in Roppongi and end up dying last March. Given the situation, Yuriko Koike, the president of Tokyo, requested not to go to night bars. It was reported that employees who worked at night bars did not have enough money to live.

This pandemic has affected many people all over the world, and no country has the solution to overcome it. Even if the pandemic ends up, the lifestyle would be more or less changed.
